Four weeks left to use the old COI Forms
On April 5, 2021, the Office of Research announced the release and pilot phase of the updated COI Forms that will be required starting June 1st, 2021. Thanks to individuals already using the new forms, the COI team already made some improvements to them.
If you are currently planning on submitting an Annual Form 810 or COI Addendum for a pending COIOC review, please consider using the new version or make sure you submit the old version by May 31st, 2021.
Please refer to our website for the current versions of the COI Forms.
Starting June 1st, the COI staff will be returning any received old versions of the Annual Form 810 and COI Addenda and request the completion of the new version.
New UCI Best Practices Requirement
Along with implementing these revised forms on June 1, 2021, to promote transparency and best practices at UCI, the COI Oversight Committee will start requiring that researchers with disclosable financial interests related to a new research project share those interests with their study team and identify a non-conflicted peer to contact if there are an COI related questions or concerns (“COI Point Person”) at a minimum through email. A copy of that email should be attached to the submitted addendum. See here for more information. This additional step will avoid delays in the processing of the COI Oversight Committee’s recommendations.
