Form 700U no longer required for Contract Research Organizations (CROs)

Form 700U no longer required for Contract Research Organizations (CROs)

Effective immediately, the Office of Research is no longer collecting the California Form 700U (Statement of Economic Interest Form) for Contract Research Organizations(CROs).

The California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) regulation indicates that conflict of interest disclosure is required for a contract or grant from a non-governmental entity sponsor. For the purposes of meeting the minimum requirements of the regulation, we are NOT considering intermediary organizations (i.e. CROs) “sponsors”. Since CROs provide support to pharmaceutical companies for contracting purposes, the funds generally do not come directly from them, rather from the pharmaceutical companies only.

As a note, this does not change any other disclosure requirement and the 700U form is still required from non-governmental entity sponsors.

Please visit the Conflict of Interest website for more information on Form 700U.
