Executive Orders and their Implementation for NSF Grants and Projects

Dear Colleagues,

I write regarding the recent Executive Orders and their implementation for National Science Foundation grants and projects. As a general matter, all research grants and contracts at the University of California comply with all applicable Federal and State laws.

You may have received a communication from the National Science Foundation regarding compliance with the Executive Orders. If you receive a Stop Work order or a specific notice from NSF instructing you to comply with an Executive Order in connection with your grant, contract, or cooperative agreement, please contact us immediately.

If you’re uncertain about compliance of your NSF-funded project with the Executive Orders, feel free to reach out to us. We can help determine if you should consult your NSF program officer to help ensure your project complies with NSF requirements and the applicable Executive Orders.

For clarification of the issues above or any other questions, please contact Nancy Lewis (nrlewis@uci.edu), Jeff Warner (warnerj@uci.edu), or me.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this dynamic and evolving situation.

Sincerely,

Pramod Khargonekar, Ph.D.
Vice Chancellor for Research
Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science
