Dear Colleagues,
The ERA Team would like to highlight a feature in KR Proposal Development that some may not be aware of or have just forgotten about: The Route Log!
The Route Log is a valuable tool in KR Proposal Development where you can accomplish several things:
- See who has already approved, who currently needs to approve, and who is still left to approve the Proposal Development Document;
- See which SPA Officer group your proposal will be assigned to;
- Read the Review Notes left by your SPA Officer
The Route Log can be accessed any time on the Summary/Submit screen:
Click the link “View Route Log” and a pop up window will appear with the Route Log. In the screenshot sample below, you will see that the Pending Action is still me (as the Initiator) requiring me to Complete and Submit the proposal into workflow. To see the workflow, click on the Show button next to Future Action Requests. In this example, you can see that an FYI email will go to the assigned SPA Officer Group (in this case, the non-Federal team), and the first approval is the PI (Peter Anteater). After the PI approves, the Chair will be required to approve, then the Dean, and then lastly the non-Federal SPA Officer will review and approve. These approvals must be completed in this order.
Please note that if there are more than one individual listed in an approval level, for example in the Chair & Dean approvals below, both of the listed individuals will receive an email notification requesting them to review & approve; however, only one of them is required to approve.
Any time an officer returns a KR proposal, their review notes will be displayed under the Annotation field in the Route Log; or if there are extensive review notes they may attach a Word document with the review notes on the Attachments screen.
Please feel free to pass this along to your colleagues and faculty. If you have any questions, please contact the ERA Team at era@research.uci.edu.
Thank you!
The ERA Team
