SPA Website Update: Principal Investigator’s Eligibility, Project Leadership and Exceptions

Dear Colleagues,

We previously notified you of the implementation of revisions to UCI Policy and Procedure Section 480-5 “Principal Investigator Eligibility and Project Leadership” along with a new companion procedure Section 480-5.1 “Principal Investigator Eligibility Exception Requests.”  You may also recall that the new procedure established campus procedures via IDA 569, which delegated authority to the Deans to approve policy exceptions regarding PI eligibility.  As a result, principal investigator eligibility is no longer a part of Contract and Officers’ proposal review. Instead, approval of the Dean or ORU Director of a proposal in Kuali Coeus/Kuali Research signifies to SPA that the Principal Investigator(s) is eligible to submit the proposal or that an exception has been approved.

I’m writing to advise you that the SPA Webpage that houses information on Principal Investigator’s Eligibility and Procedures for Exceptions has been updated to reflect the above referenced changes.   The revised webpage may be accessed here

Feel free to call on your assigned Contracts and Grants Officer if you have any questions.
