Dear Kuali Research (KR) Users,
KR will be down this weekend, starting tonight 02/25 at 8PM through Sunday 02/27 at 6PM. This pertains to our Sponsored Projects modules only and does *not* include KR Protocols that is run in the cloud. More information regarding this downtime is below.
What: MySQL Database Migration
When: Friday Feb 25, 8PM – Sunday Feb 27, 6PM
Why: Kuali (the vendor) plans to end support for Oracle Database services in the near future. The only supported database will be MySQL Database Services. Additionally, the vendor currently prefers MySQL and primarily develops and tests in MySQL. Oracle Database services are locally supported now by converting existing MySQL scripts into Oracle and conducting full regression testing. UCI continuing with Oracle Database Services adds risk that defects may be introduced and requires additional local IT effort that is otherwise avoided by following Kuali standards. Migrating to MySQL also positions UCI to leverage AWS services in the future to further reduce costs.
Please let me know directly if you have any questions related to this project or downtime.
