FW: ATTN NIH Applicants: Reminder of NIH System Issue Policy

Dear Colleagues:

Please see the e-mail below from the NIH eRA staff regarding system issues at Grants.gov that may prevent on-time submissions. Please pass this on to your faculty and researchers that are submitting NIH proposals for today’s deadline. Please check final proposal packages for errors before sending them your Contract and Grant Officer in Sponsored  Projects and submit them to us early to increase the likelihood that the proposal(s) will be submitted on time.

Reminder of NIH System Issue Policy

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

NIH Applicants,

We understand that some applicants are experiencing issues submitting grant applications through Grants.gov to NIH. Despite these issues, NIH has received a steady stream of applications both yesterday and today. NIH does not plan on extending today’s R01 deadline since the issues experienced are not affecting the majority of applications.

If you are experiencing system issues that threaten your on-time submission, please follow our standard system issue policy documented at  http://grants.nih.gov/grants/ElectronicReceipt/support.htm#guidelines and in the recent reminder notice (NOT-OD-13-054).

A couple items to keep in mind:

·        Remember that viewing your assembled application in eRA Commons is the best way to ensure we have received your application.

·        Grants.gov does not guarantee that applications will be processed in the order submitted. Check to ensure your final application is the version you want to move forward for consideration.

·        Help Desks are very busy. If you only need to document your issue and don’t need to talk to a help desk agent, take advantage of the eRA Commons Help Desk’s web ticketing system at http://public.era.nih.gov/commonshelp.

As long as we can verify that a system issue impeded the timely submission of your application and you work diligently to complete the process, you will not be penalized for these issues beyond your control.
