Regional Stay at Home Order

Dear Colleagues,

As you may have heard and read, the California Department of Public Health has issued a new Regional Stay at Home Order on 12/3/20:

This Order does not require us to make any modification to our current approved Phase 2 research plans and activities. There are very few, if any, cases of virus transmission that can be attributed to research activities. Therefore, we will continue to operate as per current approved plans.

However, it is yet another signal that the COVID-19 pandemic is spreading with rising case counts and hospitalizations. I am most gratified that the UCI research community has acted with exemplary sense of responsibility during this pandemic. We need to recommit to following every possible caution to ensure we do not contribute to the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

Thank you very much for your leadership and commitment. As always, please feel free to contact me or Associate Vice Chancellor Bruce Morgan if you have any questions or concerns.

Stay well.

Sincerely,

Pramod P. Khargonekar

Vice Chancellor for Research
Distinguished Professor of
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
