Director Appointment
Institute for Immunology (IFI)

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Professor Eric Pearlman has recently joined the faculty here at UC Irvine and has been appointed as the Director of the Institute for Immunology (IFI), effective January 5, 2015.

Dr. Pearlman had substantial leadership experience at Case Western University, where he served as the Principal Investigator of a P30 Core Facility and T32 training grant in their Visual Sciences Research Center.  He earned his B.S. in Parasitology from the University of Glasgow, M.S. in Microbiology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX.

I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding leadership provided by Drs. Albert Zlotnik and Craig Walsh, Interim Co-Directors of the Institute for Immunology for the past year.  Their efforts to ensure the continued vitality and smooth transition of the Institute are very much appreciated.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Eric Pearlman to UC Irvine and his new position within the Institute for Immunology. I look forward to the next chapter for the Institute under his leadership.
