PLEASE NOTIFY OF INTENT TO SUBMIT: Advancing Health Disparities Interventions Through Community-Based Participatory Research (U01)

The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) is inviting grant applications for their Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) Program.  This program seeks to enhance community capacity in research for which they will directly benefit; support collaborative intervention projects addressing health disparities; and accelerate the translation of findings into improved health and health outcomes.  The purpose of this FOA is to support promising community interventions using CBPR principles and approaches aimed at reducing and eventually eliminating health disparities.

The campus may submit only one proposal, but due to the specific scope of the call and trends from previous internal announcements for similar programs, we do not anticipate that an internal competition will be needed.   In order to verify this, however, interested applicants must send an Expression of Intent to Submit to the Office of Research by Monday June 22, 2015.  This Expression of Intent may consist of an email from the PI(s) with a brief 1-paragraph overview of the proposed project and its participants, and should be sent to OR@research.uci.edu.

An expedited campus internal competition will only be held if more than 1 qualified party expresses interest. The deadline for full proposals is August 3, 2015 (optional LOI due July 3, 2015).

For the complete guidelines, please refer to http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-MD-15-010.html.  Questions about our internal campus review process may be directed to Greg Ruth at greg.ruth@uci.edu or x4-0372.
