Effective September 1, 2017: In an effort to streamline administrative processes, when UCI serves as the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of record, the IRB will conduct their review concurrent with other committee reviews such as Radiation Safety, Conflict of Interest, and Institutional Biosafety. The one exception to parallel review is investigator-authored protocols involving greater than minimal risk that have not received prior scientific merit review. These protocols will be held pending scientific merit clearance. Please review the attached table for details. NOTE: When IRB oversight will be ceded to another IRB, other UCI committee approvals are required before IRB review may proceed. If you have questions, contact a representative from the HRP Staff.
