NIH Policy Notice: Certificates of Confidentiality for Non-NIH Funded Research

Below is a summary of a recent NIH notice.  Please review the notice and forward them to faculty, researchers and staff, as appropriate.  Questions regarding this notice should be directed to your Contract & Grant Officer.

Notice of Transition to New System for Issuing Certificates of Confidentiality for Non-NIH Funded Research

This notice is to inform the research community that NIH is updating its Certificate of Confidentiality (CoC) online system used to request an NIH-issued CoC for non-NIH funded research.  This notice does not apply to biomedical, behavioral, clinical, or other research, funded wholly or in part by the NIH.  Key changes include:

·NIH will no longer accept CoC requests through the current system as of March 11, 2020;

·Current users who need a copy of their Certificate should access the CoC system to download these files prior to March 13, 2020 as users will no longer have access to the current CoC system as of March 13, 2020;

·The new CoC system requires direct submission by the authorized institutional official, rather than by the investigator or another research team member.
