NIH Guide Notices

Dear Colleagues:

 

Below is a summary of a recent NIH Guide Notices. Please review the notices and forward them to faculty, researchers and staff, as appropriate. Questions regarding the notices should be directed to your Federal Contract and Grant Officer.

 

This Notice informs the applicant and recipient communities of changes to grant application forms and application guide instructions for due dates on or after January 25, 2025. AHRQ utilizes OMB approved NIH forms.

Key Changes:

·         As part of AHRQ efforts to improve the peer review process for NRSA Fellowship applications, there will be modifications to some sections of the PHS Fellowship Supplement Form. Additional details available at NoticeNOT-OD-24-107.

·         AHRQ adoption and required use of theCommon Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support by May 2025.  AHRQ will publish a Notice before the end of 2024.  

SeeHigh-level Summary of Form Changes in FORMS-I Application Packagesfor a full list of known form changes. These changes will be implemented with application form packages identified with a Competition ID of “FORMS-I” and associated application guide instructions. Additional guidance and confirmation of implementation plans will be provided in fall 2024.

Effective Date

Applicants must use FORMS-I application packages for due dates on or after January 25, 2025, and must use FORMS-H application packages for due dates on or before January 24, 2025. Applications submitted using an incorrect forms package for their intended due date will be withdrawn and will not undergo peer review. The purpose of this Notice is to inform the NIDA community of a revision in the procedures described in NOT-DA-24-032: Notice to Alert the Public of NIDA’s Career Development Award Salary Limits (nih.gov)

All NIDA K01s, K25s, and K99s awarded in Fiscal Year 2025, both competing and non-competing, will be calculated using these new figures, and the remaining future years will be adjusted accordingly. To ensure accurate awards, applications need to provide the PI’s current base salary, associated fringe benefits and level of approved effort.  For non-competing application Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs), this information can be provided in Section G.3, (Mentors Report) as an additional document to be included in the single PDF file upload for this sectionFor non-competing application RPPRs submitted prior to the date of this Notice, recipients may submit a revised budget via an e-mail from an Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR)/Signing Official (SO) sent to the Grants Management Specialist identified in the Notice of Award or in eRA Commons.
