Reminder: IRB Data Migration and Draft Protocol Narratives Version July 2025 |
Reminder: Huron IRB (ZOT IRB) will launch on September 15, 2025.
Data Migration:
In order to transition to ZOT IRB, the HRP must migrate current data in Kuali Research Protocols (KRP).
Here is what will migrate:
- The latest version of IRB approved protocols
- The latest version/s of IRB approved protocol attachments
- A PDF of the entire latest version of the IRB approved protocol
Here is what will not migrate:
- Closed protocols
- Unsubmitted draft transactions (e.g., modifications, continuing renewals)
- Submitted, unapproved protocols and related transactions (e.g., modifications, continuing renewals)
As part of our responsibility to hold records for the Institution, the UCI HRP will maintain complete data from KRP through a combination of self-service Cognos reports and FileNet.
As a part of their Principal Investigator (PI) responsibilites, complete IRB protocol records must be maintained. Accordingly, be sure to save any closed protocols to ensure a complete protocol record. To save the protocol, click on the ‘Print’ option from the main study page (see right column of page). The ‘Print’ button will open up the entire application. From there, on your Menu Bar, you can select ‘File’, then ‘Print’, then ‘Save as PDF.’
Protocol Narratives:
Once ZOT IRB launches, at the next transaction, researchers will need to complete any errant or incomplete fields within the Huron IRB SmartForm in ZOT IRB and, if any protocol changes are proposed, append a completed Protocol Narrative as part of an amendment application.
Researchers can get started by completing the Protocol Narrative in advance. Below are the Draft Protocol Narrative templates.
We expect to post final versions of the following by early August 2025.
- Biomedical Full Committee
- Exempt / Expedited / Full Committee Social Behavioral Educational
- Exempt Self Determination
- Non Human Subject Self Determination
- UCI is Relying IRB
