Aligning UCI Research Activities with California’s Roadmap Stages

UCI’s research activities will increase over time in parallel with the stages in California’s pandemic roadmap and other public health and higher education guidance.  The increase will occur gradually, in a carefully measured fashion, and over an extended period of time.  The Vice Chancellor for Research will issue an announcement to inform the research community when UCI will move from one phase to the next.  Each phase includes ongoing monitoring to determine whether UCI can progress to the next phase or must revert to an earlier phase.

Until California moves into stage 4, UCI researchers should keep in mind that research activities will continue with adaptations and safety precautions that reduce density and protect people who are at higher risk for severe illness.  Thus, only personnel who must necessarily access UCI Research Facilities should do so, for the least amount of time possible and practicing physical distancing at all times.  Research activities should be completed remotely to the greatest extent possible until phase 4.
