Updated IACUC Policies and Guidance

For researchers working with live vertebrate animals in research, teaching, or training activities, the following animal care and use policies and guidance were updated:

  1. The IACUC Guidance for Sanitization/Disinfection of Researcher-Maintained Animal Equipment was expanded to include definitions, recommended disinfectants for different equipment material types, and guidance for lab personnel to perform periodic validation of sanitization effectiveness.
  2. The IACUC Policy on Adoption of Research Animals was updated to  include spay or neuter of adoptable animals, as determined by veterinarians.
