New Startup Guide for Employee Inventors

UCI is a world-class hub of innovation. Research and development done by UCI faculty inventors and innovators has been, and will continue to be key in our ability to contribute to the betterment of society. UCI Applied Innovation wants to support the commercialization of these discoveries and aid faculty as they spearhead this movement. A challenge faced in advancing innovations is that faculty may not know exactly how, or when, to proceed with protecting and commercializing their discoveries. Support and guidance can help inventors avoid missteps, or become discouraged entirely – thereby limiting the benefit of these discoveries. As a tool for helping faculty to commercialize inventions, UCI Applied Innovation and the Office of Research have developed a new Startup Guide for Employee Inventors, in collaboration with offices across campus. A link to the guide is provided below for your use. We encourage your feedback on the guide as we will continue to evolve its contents both online, and in printed form. If you have questions regarding the guide, or its distribution, please do not hesitate to contact UCI Applied Innovation or the Office of Research.
